I start out by taking everything in about the project, brand, client, market space, category, and audience. This is the part in which I immerse myself in what they are and where they would like to be after the task is completed.
This is when I begin to really internalize all of the content I gathered from the first stage. I shuffle the pieces around in my head for a bit before I do something to take a step back and let my brain properly absorb it all. I tend to gravitate to going for a run but it’s usually any kind of “anti-thinking” activity that allows me to not force sense of a problem and instead develop a solution naturally. (Think of the ideas that come to you in the shower.)
